This is what you need to know about SARA
The basic contribution of Rahmah (SARA) was a public talk when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the gift of all Malaysians aged 18 years and over.
SARA was introduced in 2024, especially for the poor and the poor, including those registered in Ekasih’s records. The incentive was then expanded in early 2025 to the recipient of Rahmah Cash (ST).
However, there are still some who don’t know what Sara really is. Thus, the new Ministry of Finance shares about SARA on their social media sites.
According to the ministry, SARA is a cash assistance provided through Mykad recipients to buy basic needs in certain stores nationally.
SARA credit can be used in more than 4,100 shops throughout the country. Among the shops are giant, Mydin, Heromarket and many more. Interestingly, you can also buy SARA items at certain grocery stores.
In addition, there are 14 categories of goods that can be purchased, including 90,000 items. Examples of these items are rice, eggs, bread, cooking oil, disposable diapers, panadol, stationery and bath soap.
Buy steps
You need to buy goods based on 14 categories with label SARA and MyKasih on the price shelf. Then show your mykad at the payment counter for verification purposes. The cashier will check your mykad status.
After that, you need to convert the temporary PIN number (MyKad’s first 6 digits) to the new PIN number. When finished, the cashier will scan for every basic food needs you want to buy in the permitted category.
The next step, you must enter the 6 digit pin number to confirm the purchase transaction. Receipt received can be stored to check the purchase transaction.
Don’t worry, if there is still a balance on the card, it can still be used until December 31, 2025. The balance will be brought to the following month.
Also, keep in mind, RM100 ‘once’ is given to individuals. If in the family there are four adults, one house can get RM400.
