KPM for RM3 Million Installing CCTV in Selected Dormitory Schools

PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) has agreed to allocation of RM3 million for the installation of a closed circuit camera system (CCTV) in a particular dormitory school nationally.

According to KPM in a statement on Facebook, the installation of CCTV to improve aspects of the security of educational institutions under ministry management.

“The implementation of this initiative will begin immediately before expanding gradually to all boarding schools nationally.

“This step is part of the KPM ongoing effort to strengthen monitoring, prevent unwanted incidents, and create a safe and conducive ecosystem for all students.

Previously, Director General of Education Dr. Mohd Azam Ahmad said he would also increase safety features in schools, especially boarding schools, to curb intimidation such as the addition of a closed circuit camera (CCTV) and the number of dormitories.

He added that he ordered all Director of State Education and District Education Office (PPD) officers to visit schools in a surprised manner, as a way to ensure that the symptoms of intimidation in schools could be restrained.

Even directors and officers also need to go to the boarding school at night, not only to monitor but also to understand and understand the lives of students in the dormitory.
