Nepal parliamentary building was burned after the resignation of General PM
The Nepal Parliament Building reportedly burned the protesters on Tuesday, the day after Prime Minister of KP Sharma Oli resigned after the biggest anti-corruption protest waves in decades.
Resignation was carried out after 19 protesters were reported dead in clashes with police on Monday.
However, the situation is getting worse when the public attacks government buildings and the homes of political leaders throughout the country.
In Kathmandu, the famous video shows the black smoke of the sky when the parliament burned.
Thousands of protesters gathered around the building, dancing in part, chanting the slogan and raising the Nepal flag.
Some enter the building, break the window and shift the wall with anti-government messages.
Three more deaths reported, 900 prisoners running
In addition, three more deaths were reported on Tuesday. In chaos, the prison authority confirmed that 900 prisoners had escaped from two prisons in West Nepal.
According to the Head of the Army Nepal, the protesters were accused of taking advantage of damage to public and personal property.
He warned that all security forces, including the military, were willing to take control if the situation was not relieved.
The protest began after the government imposed a ban on 26 social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram, with the aim of curbing fake news, hate speech and online fraud.
Although the ban was pulled on Monday night, the anger of people, especially the young ones, had peaked.
Previously, an online campaign known as “Nepo Kid” which exposed the luxurious lifestyle of politicians and corruption accusations had advanced the people’s anger.
Protests are getting worse
On Monday, the efforts of thousands of protesters to attack the parliament building had caused several districts to be condemned.
Most deaths were reported around parliament and government buildings that day.
On Tuesday, a wave of protest continues to spread. The headquarters of the Nepal Congress Party, part of the government coalition, was also burned, as well as the leader’s house, Sher Bahadur Deer. Oli house itself is no exception for the attack.
In a resignation letter to President Ramchandra Paudel, Oli, 73, who is also a former prime minister, said the decision was made to open the way for constitutional solutions.
The President has received resignation and is currently in talks to elect new leaders.
Until now, the protesters have not made specific claims other than corruption.
