Anwar’s disqualification problem as a member of the House of Representatives & PM – AGC

The Attorney General’s Room (AGC) in a statement today said there was no problem with the disappearance of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the House of Representatives and Prime Minister.

This problem was declared to follow the court’s actions submitted by Waytha Moorthy to challenge Anwar’s qualifications as a constituent of Tambun and his appointment as Prime Minister.

“The basis for this action is forgiveness given by what Agong (YDPA) has not contained the cancellation of Datuk Anwar Disqualification based on Article 48 (1) (e) Federal Constitution.

“The department respects any individual rights to submit action in court. In this case, the Appeal Court in the Datuk Series Anwar Ibrahim V Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz case [2023] 2 MLJ 545 has decided that YDPA has the power to forgive punishment and punishment.

“Forgiveness orders by the 15th YDPA states that Datuk Seri Anwar has been given full forgiveness and is considered a person who has never committed a violation,” the statement said.

The department also said that every challenge for the selection of parliament members must go through the election petition as stipulated in Article 118 of the Federal Constitution and will be submitted in as determined based on Section 38 of the 1954 Election Violation Law.
