IKEA Malaysia, organized by House Party this September, won the RM10,000 kitchen renovation

Sitting at home is not only a choice, but also a new Malaysian lifestyle. Realizing this fact, IKEA Malaysia came with a new initiative: Ikea House Party, an inspirational event that lasted for a month in four main stores, Damansara, Cheras, Tebrau and Batu Kawan.

What is waiting for Ikea’s house party?

The event is packed with food dishes, design workshops, family activities and entertainment. Some main attractions include:

Designing a Cooking Workshop and Creative Table
Casual performance for the whole family
Ultimate Cookoff Contest – Three Main Winners will bring home the RM10,000 Kitchen Renovation Prize respectively

Main Purpose: Inspire Malaysians to fall in love with their homes, especially the most important rooms – kitchens and dining rooms.

Kitchen as a pulse of life

“The happiness of the house begins in the kitchen. In Malaysia, the kitchen is the birthplace of a meaningful moment, laughter and love,” said Malcolm Pruys, Director of Retail Ikea Malaysia.

He added that IKEA understood the challenges of modern life with rising costs. Therefore, through this house party, Ikea wants to show that creating a cheerful, comfortable and personal house is not always expensive.

Design for all

Ikea is known for the principle of ‘democratic design’, every product is not only beautiful, but also practical, durable, sustainable, and affordable.

According to Marcus Arvonen, senior designer IKEA Sweden, a good design should not only benefit humans, but also for the earth. He is one of the creators of iconic products such as Besta, PS and Upptadera collection.

Study of Life at Home

Through reports of life at Ikea’s home, research shows that the kitchen remains the center of Malaysian life. Many choose to cook for health, savings, and family togetherness.

Four main focus for 12 months coming:

Cooking & eating – modular kitchen systems, pans, pans, and various price equipment
Dining room – various sizes, glass items, table tables for simple decorations for fresh atmosphere
Living room – pillow, curtain, carpet, and decoration for daily comfort or guests who welcome
Storage – flexible rack, cabinets, trolley, boxes and baskets according to space and lifestyle

“Regardless of small or large houses, Malaysians want a home that is truly compatible with their lifestyle. So you will see more inspiration and new solutions from IKEA that are affordable, sustainable, and easily practiced,” added Prays.

This event took place from September 13 to October 5, 2025. People were invited to the IKEA main store to enjoy activities, inspire, try products, and spend time with family and friends.
