No chemicals or dangerous bodies found on ‘ghosts’ ships

Chilika, August 15 (named) – There are no dangerous chemicals or human corpses found on “ghosts” ships that float in the waters of oil platforms, Terengganu.

Maritime Zone Director Kemaman Abdul Halim Hamzah said 17 members of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Hazmat) and three Malaysian Navy officers (JLM) were involved in inspections for 53.7 meters (m) and 10m at Pangkalan Pasokan Kemaman (KSB).

He said the fire department had used two types of high -tech devices, four meters of gas (FGM) and gasmets to detect the presence of hazardous substances or gas on ships.

“Hazmat has used high -tech equipment to detect reading from hazardous chemicals or gas on the three ships.

“It was found that the area was safe and there was no indication of the existence of the human body. Initially there was an unpleasant odor, but after being examined it was caused by raw materials in the refrigerator,” he said at a press conference in the Maritime Zone, here today.

Abdul Halim said the ‘ghost’ 293 tons would be handed over to JLM for further action.

In addition, maritime will conduct regular patrols around the ship area to ensure that there are no irresponsible invasion activities.

“The ship will be handed over to JLM for further action. For the time being that time it will be placed in KSB until the next process is complete,” he said.

Previously, the “ghost” ship was postponed to KSB, here at around 11:30 a.m. before the security investigation at 3.30 pm.
