Personal Audio Record Series, Apple users can claim money
New York – Apple device users can now make financial compensation claims after the Apple Inc. technology giant. Agree to pay $ 95 million calls involving allegations by assistant series that violated consumer privacy, CBC News reported.
It is understood that financial claims are open until July 2, 2025.
The decision made by a giant device after a lawsuit filed in 2021 by Fumiko Lopez, a California resident, claimed that his personal conversation had been recorded by an unauthorized series, before being distributed with third parties such as restaurants and clothing brands.
He and other users claim to receive target ads in the Safari Web browser and Apple search platform.
Despite agreeing to pay the lawsuit, Apple denied all accusations and insisted that the company had not made a mistake or violation of the law.
Users who meet the requirements to make claims
Users with Apple devices with series functions between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024 are eligible to submit claims.
Among the devices that meet the requirements are iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, homepod, iPod Touch and Apple TV.
Users can claim up to $ 20 (around RM86) per device, with a maximum limit of five devices, with a maximum claim of $ 100 (around RM432) per individual.
Users who meet the requirements will receive an official email or postcard containing claim IDs and confirmation codes to create claims on the settlement site before July 2, 2025. The email said “Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement.”
Payment will only be made after the final approval trial on August 1, 2025 at the California Federal Court. If no appeal is proposed, payments will be processed as soon as possible.
Users can choose the payment method when submitting a claim, either by physical check, e-check or transfer directly to a bank account.
