Pro-net and amtel cellular collaboration for sustainable battery disposal

Subang Jaya, July 9, 2025 – New Energy Technology Proton (“Pro-net”), a subsidiary of Proton, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Amtel Cellular SDN BHD (“Amtel”), a subsidiary of Amtel Holdings Berhad, to manage transportation, separation of components and disposal of electric vehicle batteries (EV).

Through this cooperation, the pro-net will utilize Amtel’s expertise in ensuring that the EV battery is fully used and not wasted. Material valued from used batteries will be restored and reused for purposes such as making new batteries or as an energy storage system, important steps towards a more sustainable economy.

According to estimates by the Malaysian Automotive Institute, Robotics and IoT Malaysia (Marii), in 2050, 870,000 EV batteries are expected to be recycled in Malaysia. This number shows the urgent need for organized systems and frameworks to ensure that the battery used is collected, processed and discarded in a safe and responsible manner. This is important to ensure the long -term sustainability of the EV ecosystem in this country, especially with the increase in the level of use.

Chief Executive Officer Pro-Net Zhang Qiang said, “Pro-Net is fully committed to sustainability. In our efforts to help the country switch to green mobility, we also want to ensure all environmentally friendly processes. Although there are no official government guidelines, we take the first step to ensure that the disposal of EV batteries is carried out in the right way so that the process does not affect the environment.

EV battery disposal will be applied in accordance with the rules set by the government under the Electronic Scheduled Waste Information System (ESWI) used by the Department of Environment (DOE). Amtel also actively invests in research and development (R&D), including exploring new uses for EV battery cells. The main focus is to reuse these battery cells to use such as energy storage systems, thus supporting more sustainable energy ecosystems.

Amtel Cellular SDN BHD Chief Executive Officer Lim Hun Teik said, “This collaboration shows us with our commitment not only encouraging electricity mobility, but also building a complete ecosystem that supports it, from reliable after -sales services, safe battery management to responsible disposal.

Proton E.Mas 7 uses a high -tech short -tech blade LFP battery designed to reduce the risk of battery related and ensure the safety of their vehicles and passengers. This feature is one of the main attractions that has made Proton E.Mas 7 EV -Best -Lelling EV in Malaysia for 2025 so far, and is recognized as the safest EV in the country with the highest score in the ASEAN NCAP assessment.

The battery is durable, not destroyed and is able to withstand pressure from 36 tons of tank

Proton E.Mas 7 comes with cell-to-body-body technology (CTB) with a short blade battery aegis, where the battery is not only under the floor but also part of the body structure of the car itself. This not only makes the vehicle stronger but also safer. This battery life is proven when successfully passing an extreme test when the battery can withstand 36 tons of load without fire, explosion, or failure. In fact, this test exceeds 1.8 times the maximum pressure set in the current security standard.

Despite extreme pressure, the battery remains intact without bloating, leakage, or damage. This completed the previous test known as “6 Devils”, a series of extreme tests including fires, floods, frozen, stress loads, friction and violations to ensure endurance and reliability in various situations. With nearly one million vehicles sold worldwide and there are no reported fire cases, AEGIS battery security technology is proven to be reliable in the real world.
