Wan Ahmad Farid’s Court of Appeal Court was appointed as the new Chief Justice

Kuala Lumpur, July 17 (named) – Judge of the Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh Court Judge has been appointed as the new Chief Justice.

The Federal Court Registrar’s Office in a statement today said that the appointment was carried out based on clause (1) Article 122B of the Federal Constitution, after receiving approval from what was preceded by Agong on the suggestion of the Prime Minister and after consulting with the Ruler Council.

Meanwhile, Federal Court judge Datuk Abu Bakar Jais was appointed as the president of the Appeal Court, while the Judge of the Appeals Court Datuk Azizah Nawawi was appointed to replace the Chairman of the Sabah and Sarawak Court.

“The delivery ceremony for the appointment and the ceremony appoints and signs the oath of office and oath in front of His Majesty which Agong will be held on July 28, 2025 at the Palace,” the statement said.

Wan Ahmad Farid, 62, was appointed as the Chairman of the TUN TENGKU MAIMUN MATIA MAT 17th Court who retired on July 2.

Abu Bakar, 63, fills the Job Vacancies of the Presidential Court after retiring Tan Sri Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim on July 3, while Azizah, 63, will replace Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Seji who will retire on July 25.
