Witness Lenggong about the terrible volcanic eruption in modern human history

Malaysia is indeed rich in history and valuable remnants that are still unknown.

One of the most important locations that is often the focus of historical and archeological researchers is the state of silver, especially the Lenggong region.

It is known that Lenggong has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, following prehistoric discoveries that are stored in the area for thousands of years.

However, not many people know that Lenggong also holds a record of natural phenomena that almost threaten the existence of humans in ancient times.

Toba volcanic eruption dust discovery in Lenggong

Recently, a woman through the Tiktok @Adihihimai site stole her attention when she visited the Toba Geotapak dust on Bukit Beef, Lenggong.

Besides, many still do not know the existence of this place which is a witness to a major event in human history.

The Toba volcanic eruption in Lake Tova, Sumatra, which lasted around 74,000 years ago, was the largest volcanic eruption in modern human history.

Through the method of determining AR40/AR39 age, scientists have confirmed that this eruption occurred on a very large scale.

As a result, the traces of dust from the eruption spread throughout Asia, including Malaysia. In fact, the effect is also detected in India, Africa and Antarctica.

The effect of a terrible eruption has left a layer of six meters of dust that can still be seen in several areas of Lenggong to this day.

According to Lenggong Geopark, dust known as Toba dust has a riolite composition and contains minerals such as quartz, zircon, tourmalin and mica.

This finding shows that Malaysia was also directly impressed by natural disasters that almost caused human extinction at that time.

“Determination of age with the AR40/AR39 method is around 74,000 in line with the last mega eruption of Toba Volkano in North Sumatra.

“The Toba volcanic eruption is one of the biggest eruption ever recorded in the history of modern humans and has a global impact that almost leads to early human extinction,” Lenggong Geopark explained.

More interesting, there is also the discovery of prehistoric tools in a handsome city area, near the location of this geotapi.

This proves that the place has been inhabited by the Paleolithic community. This also shows that they had lived in the area before the volcanic eruption occurred.

The main eruption is believed to have a significant impact on the initial population, which results in drastic changes in the structure of the ancient human population.

For info, Geotapak which contains the remaining Toba dust is currently in the UNESCO world heritage buffer zone. This is also preserved under the 2005 National Heritage ACT.
