Muhammad remains the most popular name in England, Wales -Sons
The name Muhammad remains the most popular name for baby boy in the UK and Wales for 2024, according to the latest data released by the National Statistics Office (ONS).
According to data, a total of 5,721 baby boy named Muhammad, made him the name most widely used for the second year in a row.
His name is registered 23 percent higher than 2023, the Daily Mail reported.
ONS also reports that other spelling variations of the name are also listed in the top 100 names. Mohammed recorded 1,760 registration and was in the 121th position, while Mohammad was in the 55th place with 986 registrations.
Meanwhile, the names of Noah and Oliver maintain their position in second and third, as in 2023.
For the baby girl’s category, Olivia’s name continues to be on the top stairs with 2,761 registrations, followed by Amelia and Lily. Olivia became the most popular name in seven regions in England and in Wales.
ONS also included several new names that entered the top 100 groups for the first time, including Yahya for baby boys and Athens for baby girls.
The experts who named the baby illustrated the increase in the use of Muhammad’s name and other unique names that reflect changes in trends and cultural diversity among British people and Wales.
