PM Anwar’s official visit to Indonesia strengthens the close relations between the two countries
Jakarta, June 26 (named) -The Minister of Primary Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will hold an official visit to Indonesia on Friday as part of the sustainable commitment of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Thursday said the visit was a response after the visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Malaysia this year to attend a two-way meeting and participation at the 46th ASEAN Summit, the Second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit on 26 and 27 May.
“This visit is also part of the preparation for the 13th annual negotiations between Malaysia and Indonesia which are scheduled this year,” the statement said.
During the visit, Anwar was scheduled to meet with President Prabowo to evaluate the development of bilateral relations, following the 46th ASEAN Summit, the Second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, and the exchange of views on regional development and global problems.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Investment Senator, Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Senator Minister of Higher Education Datuk Series Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, Communication Minister Datuk Ahmad Fahmi Fadzil Fadzil.
In 2024, Indonesia was the sixth largest and largest trading partner of Malaysia and the second largest among ASEAN member countries.
Bilateral trade value increased 4.5 percent to RM116.29 billion (US $ 25.5 billion) compared to RM111.21 billion (US $ 24.39 billion) in 2023.
“As a nearby neighboring country and sharing historical relations and as a founding country of ASEAN, this official visit stated a joint commitment to Malaysia and Indonesia to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two countries and the welfare of the ASEAN region as a whole,” he said.
