The Gig Workers’ Bill is expected to be submitted in Parliament August or September – TPM

Bill (Bill) Performance is expected to be submitted in a parliamentary session in August or September.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Series Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the bill was an important step in introducing a social protection framework for more than 1.12 million Malaysians involved in this sector.

He said it would also be the act of the first performance workers in the world including platform and non -platform -based performance workers.

“This is also a global level marker in the protection of workers in the digital economy.

“This law will ensure justice by balancing the welfare of performance workers and the efficiency and flexibility of digital platform providers,” he said.

He informed this problem after leading the Buri distribution show and the distribution session of the performance industry at Buri today.

According to him, the round table session is a sustainable government commitment to strengthen the country’s economic economic ecosystem through an inclusive and progressive policy approach.

Gathering more than 100 participants, attended by representatives of the ministry, government agencies and more than 80 national performance economic platforms.

“As part of a comprehensive consultation process, this session emphasizes the need to form a comprehensive rules framework to protect the rights and roles of all stakeholders, including performance workers, platform providers and consumers,” he said.

In addition to the Performing Workers’ Bill, this session also focused on the formation of the Malaysian Performing Economic Commission (Segim).

Ahmad Zahid said that the establishment of Segim that would be announced would be a key component of the performance economy ecosystem.

The commission will function as the coordinator of the national performance sector, coordinator and monitoring, ensure compliance with industrial standards and transparent policy implementation and strengthen self -regulation practices (self -regulation) in the platform provider.

“Segim will be placed under the Department of Prime Minister to ensure integrated policy coordination at the national level.

“MDEC will continue to function as a technical secretariat, unite industry input and coordinate management sessions with the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma), the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) and related institutions.

“Our goal is clear, to create a balance between the interests of industry and the welfare of the performance workers, while making the performance economy the main driver of the digital economy of a just, responsive, and sustainable country.

“I believe that with close cooperation between all stakeholders, Malaysia is able to emerge as a leader in developing a formidable economic performance ecosystem and based on the welfare of the people,” he said.
