Report JTK if you receive a salary under RM1.700 – Kesuma
Putrajaya, June 23 (named) – The Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) has urged workers who receive a minimum wage of RM1,700 to immediately complain in the Department of Manpower (JTK).
Kesuma in a statement today informs that all parties must comply with the minimum wage rules set to protect the welfare and rights of workers in Malaysia and will not hesitate to take legal action against violations of the 2011 national salary consultative law.
Referring to the media report on the accusation that the bus driver only receives RM700 monthly salary without permanent benefits, the Ministry has announced that under the 2024 Minimum Wage Order (PGM), entrepreneurs through the basic salary structure or minimum monthly income.
“If the employer sets the basic salary in the service contract, the basic payment rate must be no less than the current minimum wage level.
“If the employer does not determine the basic salary in the service contract, the employer must ensure that the monthly payment rate is not less than the current minimum wage rate and does not include other benefits,” the statement said.
According to Kesuma, PGM 2024 also applies to part -time workers.
The statement states that JTK will increase monitoring and enforcement actions of complaints or cuts of payment that violates PGM.
If there is a complaint of employees confirmed by the Court, the employer can be ordered to pay differences in salary and benefits that are affected in accordance with Section 44 of Law 732.
On June 21, a local portal reported that the expression and shipping bus driver only received a basic salary of RM700 a month and some were not paid for basic salaries.
This situation is said to have caused them to rely on travel allowances and overtime work to live their lives to sacrifice vacation and work almost every day.
