Independent Preacher Allegedly Misappropriating NGO Funds Continues Detention
SEREMBAN, April 26 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Negeri Sembilan obtained permission to extend the detention of an independent preacher suspected of misappropriating funds from a non-governmental organization (NGO) amounting to about RM12.3 million.
The detention order until May 1 for the suspect in his 30s was issued by Judge Nurul Saqinah Rosli at the Seremban District Court today.
This application was submitted following the suspect’s initial detention period which ended today.
The Director of MACC Negeri Sembilan, Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail, when contacted, confirmed this.
Previously, the suspect was detained for five days since last Wednesday and so far MACC has frozen 15 bank accounts totaling around RM16.6 million consisting of four individual accounts, three NGO accounts and eight company accounts.
Apart from that, the latest confiscated value includes RM158,731, Riyal 102,893, Singapore Dollar SGD27,929 and jewelry worth around RM2 million.
This case was investigated in accordance with Article 23 of the MACC Law of 2009 as well as under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Illegal Activities Act of 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001).
Yesterday, MACC Main Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that his party would summon 14 to 15 witnesses to help investigate the case.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
