STR Phase 1 2026 Distributed Starting January 20
PUTRAJAYA — The MADANI government will start distributing the 2026 Phase 1 Rahmah Cash Contributions (STR) starting January 20 2026.
The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) in its statement informed that a total of RM1.1 billion has been allocated, benefiting 3.7 million households and 1.3 million single seniors for this phase.
“Applicants will receive as much as RM100 to RM500, according to their respective qualification categories.
“In line with the MADANI Government’s efforts to ensure that Government initiatives can reduce the cost of living more appropriately.
“The government has reorganized the STR Grant and Rahmah Principal Contribution (SAI,A) for 2026.
“With these improvements, more than 8 million people are entitled to receive SARA assistance every month, including 400,000 poor and very poor people based on the eKasih database, making SARA a form of basic assistance that provides sustainable support to the community.
“STR is provided as additional assistance every quarter, targeting households and senior citizens without a partner who earn RM5,000 and below per month, including poor and very poor people registered with eKasih,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Finance added that this integrated approach aims to ensure that targeted assistance can be distributed in a more regular, stable and effective manner, in addition to providing additional financial space at times of peak need such as during the festive season.
The total STR and SARA allocation for 2026 is RM15 billion, which is the highest amount in the history of the Federal Government.
“The MADANI Economic Framework allows the basis of society’s life to be raised so that everyone can stand equally high and sit equally low.
“When the community is protected and basic needs are met, of course we can together raise the ceiling of the economy in a more enthusiastic and sustainable manner,” said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Minister of Finance.
To reduce the risk of dropping out, new registrations and STR applications are open throughout the year via the official portal

FAQ (FAQ) regarding STR is also available on the portal, while SARA credit status and FAQ (FAQ) can be checked directly through the official SARA portal.
“Eligibility is based on established income limits. In line with best practices for implementing social assistance programs, each application also goes through a review and verification process with various government agencies to ensure the applicant’s eligibility.
“For new applicants, in addition to income limits, periodic checks will be carried out every quarter to check residence ownership, vehicle ownership, business ownership, as well as records of working or living abroad.
“All applicants are responsible for providing accurate and correct information in their applications. If false or inaccurate information is found, legal action can be taken.
“The government also has the right to withdraw any approved assistance in the event of non-compliance.
“The Ministry of Finance reminds STR recipients to be wary of fake links and fraudulent attempts by irresponsible parties.
“As a security measure, the Ministry of Finance never asks for personal information via SMS or WhatsApp, and recipients are advised to refer only to the official STR portal for up-to-date information,” the statement said.
