Hajj pillars are the main practices that must be done in the implementation of the pilgrimage. If one of these pillars is not done, then the pilgrimage becomes invalid or canceled. The pillars of Hajj according to the majority of scholars are as follows:
-
Ihram
That is intending to start the pilgrimage from the predetermined miqat. -
Thawaf Ziyarah (Thawaf Ifadhah)
Namely around the Kaaba seven times after returning from Arafat, which is one of the core pillars in the pilgrimage. -
Sa’i
Namely, back and forth between Shafa Hill and Marwah seven times. -
Wuquf in the Arafat field
Namely silent in Arafat on the 9th of Dzulhijjah, starting after the slip of the sun to setting.
If one of the four pillars of pilgrimage is not done, the Hajj is invalid and must be repeated the following year if possible.
However, there are differences of opinion among scholars regarding the number of pillars of pilgrimage. For example, Imam Abu Hanifah argues that the pillars of the pilgrimage only consist of two things, namely Wuquf in Arafat And Thawaf Ifadhah. According to him, ihram does not include harmony because he is Valid Term HajjWhile Sa’i is considered as Mandatory Hajjnot a pillar.
On the other hand, Pastor Asy-Shafi’i mention that the pillars of the pilgrimage Againthat is:
-
Ihram
-
Tawaf
-
Sa’i
-
Wuquf in Arafat
-
Shaving or cutting hair
-
Orderly (sorting the pillars according to the provisions)
This opinion as mentioned in this book Book of Fiqh ‘All Madzhahoblis Arba (1/578).
Mandatory Hajj
Unlike the harmony, the mandatory practice in the pilgrimage is the practice that must be done, but if left behind does not cancel the pilgrimage, but rather imposed Dam (good). Following are the practices that are included in this category Mandatory Hajj:
-
Starting ihram from Miqat which has been specified.
-
Carry out Wuquf in arafat for sunset.
-
Mabit (overnight) at Muzdalifah Until past midnight.
-
Mabit in Mina At night Tasyrik.
-
Throwing jumrah according to time.
-
Shaving or cutting hair As a form of tahallul.
-
Do Tawaf together Before leaving Mecca.
Hajj conditions are needed
Someone is not required to make a pilgrimage except fulfill the following requirements:
-
Islam – Unbelievers are not subject to Hajj obligations.
-
Intelligent – Crazy people are not obliged.
-
Puberty -Children have not been affected by this obligation.
-
Capable – both physically, financially, and safety on the way.
Representing Hajj for Others
Someone is not allowed to represent his hajj worship to others by He made a pilgrimage for himself. Rasulullah (may peace on it) said:
“Hajj in your soul, then Hajj”
“Get yourself for yourself, then you hope for that.”
Hajj for children who have not puberty
Children who have not reached puberty are not required to make pilgrimage. However, when a child has made a pilgrimage, his haj remains valid and worthy to be worshiped, even if he does not eliminate his duties after puberty.
This is as in the history of Ibn ‘Abbās Ra, that Rasulullāh ﷺ meet a group of people in the region Ar-Raufortʼ. He asked:
“Who are you?”
They answered: “We are Muslims.”
Then they returned to ask: “Who are you?”
He answered: “I am Apostle. “
Then there was a little girl asking:
“Is this what is called Hajj?”
Because Rasulullāh ﷺ Answered:
Yes, and you have a prize.
“Yes, and for you reward.”
