Al -Qur’an is a holy book which is the main guide for all Muslims. In it, millions of invaluable wisdom and life lessons are stored. Every letter, word, and sentence written in the Qur’an has a deep meaning and arranged with extraordinary beauty. The choice of words is perfect, so the verses contained in it are heard and touching the heart, without reducing the true meaning of being delivered. So great is the Qur’an, so that each verse gives light to anyone who reads it with faith.
As Muslims, we not only have to be able to read and understand the Qur’an, but also memorize and practice it in everyday life. One of the most important positions of the chapter Surah Al-Fatihah. This letter is the opening of the Qur’an and is a mandatory reading in every prayer, whether it is fardu and sunnah. Without reading Surah Al-Fatihah, the prayers carried out are invalid. This shows how special this surah is that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala makes it an inseparable part of worship.
Then, one of the priorities and deep meanings contained in Surah Al-Fatihah so that it has a noble position in Islam? In various interpretations of the Qur’an, it is explained that Surah Al-Fatihah is not only beautiful in reading, but also full of high faith values.
1. Read Ta’awudz before starting
Before reading Surah Al-Fatihah, it is highly recommended to say Ta’awudz:
I am looking for protection in God from Devil Grost
“I seek protection in God from the temptation of the cursed devil.”
Reading Ta’awudz has a deep meaning, which is to clean oral from all forms of sin that may have been committed, such as saying rude, lying, gossiping, or saying other bad. By reading ta’awudz, we ask for protection from devil disorders and prepare ourselves to read holy verses with a clean heart. In the opinion of Ja’far Ash-Shadiq, Ta’awudz is required only in reading the Qur’an, not in other deeds of worship.
2. The great meaning behind Basmalah
The first verse in Surah Al-Fatihah is:
On behalf of God, the most friendly, most compassionate
“On behalf of the most compassionate, who is loving.”
Basmalah is the key to the opening of all charity bodies. Prophet Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam said in the history of Abu Daud History:
“Every important case that does not begin by mentioning the name of God, then the blessing is cut off.”
This verse teaches us to always start everything by mentioning the name of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala in order to get blessings, pleasure, and His help. Basmalah also becomes a form of request so that we are always in the grace and protection of God and avoid the whisper of devil. In the interpretation of Ali Ash-Shabuni it is explained that reading basmalah is a form of statement of faith that confirms the oneness of God and rejects all forms of polytheism.
3. Whisper and Na’in: Heart of Heart Heart
In the fifth verse of Surah Al-Fatihah it was written:
We worship you, and we are looking for help
“Only for you, we worship and only for you, we will seek help.”
Two important lafadz, Na’budu (We worship) and Nastain (We ask for help), showing that humans depend on Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. This verse teaches us to be humble and not arrogant, because everything in this world can only happen with permission and help from Him. This sentence is also a form of recognition that only God should be worshiped and a place to depend on everything.
4. Emphasis on help and warnings about God’s wrath
The seventh verse of Surah Al-Fatihah reads:
The path of those who have been blessed with them, besides those who are angry with them and not those who get lost
“(Meaning) The way people you have given are favors; not (the way) of those who are wrapped, and not (the way) of those who are lost.”
In this verse, lafadz You are blessed (what you give blessings) is relied directly on God as a form of praise that all blessings come from Him. But in the next section, the mention of wrapped parties (al-maghḍūb) and those who are heretical (aḍ-ḍāllīn) are not referred directly to God. This shows the tenderness of the language of the Qur’an which teaches etiquette in talking about the nature of wrath and misdirection, while emphasizing that Allah is just.
Priority to Read Surah Al-Fatihah
Prophet Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:
“Reading Surah Al-Fatihah has a reward like reading one third of the Qur’an.”
This hadith shows how great prizes are promised for those who read Surah Al-Fatihah. In fact, in some history it is stated that reciting Surah Al-Fatihah 20 times after fardu prayers and accompanied by applications to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, can open the path of facilities in various world affairs and open the door of sustenance.
