30 Killed, more than 150 Israeli troops were injured while trying to get help in Gaza

Ankara, June 1 (named-Anadolu)-at least 30 Palestinians were killed and more than 150 people were injured on Sunday after the Israeli army fired shots on civilians who sought assistance in Al-Mawasi, West Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

According to witnesses, the public gathered in the morning at the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” distribution center.

When they approached the location, Israeli military vehicles fired shots and drones reportedly had dropped explosives, producing many victims, witnesses said.

Sources -Medical sources confirmed the bodies of at least 30 people and dozens were injured in the Nasser medical complex in Khan Younis and to the Hospital of the City International Medal Committee in the city.

In a preliminary report, the Gaza Ministry of Health informed that 179 victims were taken to the local hospital, including 21 who were declared dead, five did not show any signs of survival and 30 others in critical condition, after Israeli soldiers fired shots to the public at the aid distribution center in the Al-Alam area, Rafah.

A medical officer described the situation around the assistance center as “very dangerous” and informs that ambulances are difficult to reach the scene due to continuous shots.

At the same time, Israeli troops also fired shots to the public approaching other aid centers supported by the US near the Netzarim corridor in Central Gaza.

According to a medical source at Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat camp, at least one Palestinian was killed and 20 others were injured when Israeli soldiers fired shots into the crowd near the entrance to the Al-Bureij camp.

The Government Media Office in Gaza on Sunday said Israel “used humanitarian assistance systematically and evil as a weapon of war to squeeze people who were hungry and forced them to gather in open areas exposed to deadly attacks.”

The death on Sunday brought the number of Palestinians killed near the location of the distribution of aid to 39 people in less than a week, with more than 220 injured during the same period, according to Anadolu based on Palestinian sources.

US assistance initiative was launched about a week ago under the name “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” received extensive criticism from the Palestinian community and international humanitarian organizations.

Many questioned the motives of projects that operate outside the framework of UN assistance (PBB) and did not meet international humanitarian standards.

Since March 2, Israel has closed all boundaries, prevent food, medicines, fuel and other basic needs for 2.4 million Gaza residents.
