RTM Invites People to Watch the World Cup Tonight, There’s Free Food
Be smart, the FIFA World Cup is back and the first match will be played early in the morning.
It’s special this time because Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) will present all 104 matches through various channels including its digital platform.
For the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, RTM invites the public to watch together at Angkasapuri.
Transport Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Deputy Transport Minister Teo Nie Ching will also be present tonight.
Also present were the Mexican Ambassador to Malaysia and the South African High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Meanwhile, various special activities are prepared for the public such as PS5 FIFA games, AI photo booths, street football challenges, as well as sales of official FIFA merchandise and souvenirs.
People can also enjoy unlimited food, including Teh Tarik and Roti Canai.
Previously, Director General of RTM Broadcasting Ashwad Ismail said that local football fans could take part in this prestigious football tournament via RTM Klik, RTM channels on the MY TV and Unifi TV platforms.
He said the RTM is using all its strength to ensure that the tournament, which is held once every four years, can be enjoyed by all levels of society, including residents in rural areas, Bernama reported.
“We chose to hold the 2026 World Cup, because that is what the Malaysian people want, especially local football fans and we also know that football is the main sport in Malaysia and they want to see what is different about this World Cup compared to the last edition.
“That’s why we are mobilizing all available strength. This is not just RTM’s work, this is not just the work of the Broadcasting Service or the Ministry of Transportation, this is cooperation and the strength of important local telecommunications brands that understand the pulse of society,” he said.
