In 10 Days, BACA CITY 2026 Celebrates Merdeka Square
In another 10 daysMalaysia will witness the implementation of KOTA BACA 2026, a national literacy event that will taking place from 23 to 26 April 2026 coincides with World Book and Copyright Day.
Event led by the Ministry of Education (KPM) implemented by the Book City Corporation is a national effort to strengthen the reading culture among the community.
READING CITY 2026 is designed with purpose institutionalize reading as a social norm, in line with Malaysia’s CIVILIZATION aspirations which emphasizes building a knowledgeable, civilized and highly skilled society. This effort also supports the implementation of the 2021-2030 National Reading Decade, with an emphasis on reading culture as a foundation for human resource development and knowledge-based economic competitiveness.
YB Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Educationwill complement the opening of the national World Book and Copyright Day on 23 April 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Library, which also marks the start of the implementation of READING CITY 2026 through a hybrid approach, including digital engagement and 10-minute simultaneous reading across the country.
In the same event, YB Fadhlina will also launch the Malaysia Reading Map dashboard which displays data on reading and book purchases by citizens throughout the country, making it the main reference in monitoring reading culture at the national level.
Physical replenishment will be carried out in Medan Merdeka on April 24 to 26 2026with various programs held from 7 am to 10 pm. This program brings together literacy, community and engagement activities of the book industry, private sector and institutions in an inclusive and high-impact ecosystem.
The main contents include the special Friday Sermon about the importance of reading in all mosques in the Federal Territory on April 24, BukaBuku with the Sarong Train on the evening of April 25, Statesman’s Speech on the evening of April 25, and the 5KM Book Character Run on the morning of April 26.
The Largest Book Exchange in Southeast Asia
The public is invited to attend on the evening of April 25th to take part in the largest Book Swap Gathering in Southeast Asia by bringing your own books to exchange with other visitors. Special stickers can be obtained from volunteers, while visitors are encouraged to gather according to book genre under giant balloons (genre recorded book) to facilitate exchange sessions in an organized and interactive atmosphere.
Throughout the event, visitors can explore over 100 book sales and fairsparticipate in nationwide Book Fairs, listen to live Book Review Audio Broadcasts, and meet authors, writers and illustrators. Various activities are also provided, including Mrs. Baca Malaysia, Coffee and Book Cafe, Kota Baca Passport and community programs for all.
This program also displays the BACA CITY icon such as National Writer Datuk Seri A. Samad Said, as well as writers and figures such as ZRA, Hafizul Faiz, Hilal Asyraf, and Lavina Jacinta (Mrs. Malaysia World 2025) who actively promote reading culture.
Also featured is AI Smart Stop which features a partnership related to artificial intelligence in the world of bookkeeping between Google and AI expert, Nadio Granata. This organization reflects comprehensive cooperation between government, industry and society in driving the national literacy agenda.
This organization also emphasizes towards efforts to produce new readers consistently among the community. READING CITY not only encourages reading as an individual activity, but makes it a fun experience, relevant to the digital world, and has an impact on visitors.
Chief Executive of the Book City Agency, Adibah Omar said, “READING CITY 2026 is a national collective effort to elevate the culture of reading as a foundation for building a knowledgeable society. Our main focus is to continuously produce new readers at all levels of society.”
He added“Through the support of the Ministry of Education and the involvement of various parties, we are building a sustainable and inclusive reading ecosystem in line with CIVIL Malaysia’s aspirations.”

READING CITY is not just an annual event. This is an ongoing effort to shape Malaysia as a reading nation by 2030, with a new generation of readers as the foundation of the nation’s future strength.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
