Global Supply Crisis: Selangor Provides RM100 a Month Assistance to 50,000 Families
SHAH ALAM , June 15 (Bernama) — As many as 50,000 underprivileged families in Selangor will receive cash assistance of RM100 per month for six months through the Voucher Kita Selangor initiative under the Strengthening Selangor Resilience Package Phase 1 starting June 30.
Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the aid was one of the initiatives under the RM140 million package announced by the state government on April 16 in an effort to help people deal with global economic uncertainty as well as cost of living pressures during the global supply crisis.
He said the recipients would be identified through a review of several existing databases including the Selangor Prosperous Living Assistance Initiative (BINGKAS) and the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) to ensure aid was distributed to those in need.
“We will start checking the list of recipients on June 22 to 23 before informing who is eligible.
The target is that recipients can start using the RM100 assistance per month from June 30 and payments will continue every month for a period of six months, he said.
He conveyed this in a press conference after the launch of the package at the Selangor Economic Action Meeting Room (MTES), Selangor State Secretary’s Office Building (SUK), here, today.
Through this package, said Amirudin, as much as RM5 million has been allocated for the 2026 Ehsan Rahmah Tour (JER) through the Selangor Agricultural Development Company (PKPS) which will take place twice in each State Legislative Assembly (DUN) throughout Selangor starting this month.
This effort adds to the existing amount of RM5 million so that the total JER 2026 allocation is RM10 million.
To encourage more people to use public transport and reduce dependence on conventional fuel, he said, the state government is offering a Public Transport Fare Subsidy of RM30 per month to 50,000 users via the Sembilan app.

To ease the financial burden on parents, Amirudin said the state government would also start providing the Free Breakfast Program to 120,000 needy students in 965 schools across the state under the Selangor Education Department and Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
Meanwhile, he said, the Strengthening Selangor Resilience Package Phase 2 which focuses on protecting the industrial sector in the state will be presented at the Special State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference on June 19, 22 and 23.
He said the DUN conference on April 28 informed the Selangor government that it would launch several new initiatives to help strengthen the state’s two key sub-sectors, namely manufacturing and services in facing the impact of the global supply crisis, aimed at enhancing industrial competitiveness and driving the state’s economic growth.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said that the Special Meeting of the State Assembly which will be held later will only focus on discussing the strengthening package to face the global supply crisis carried out by DPR members and has nothing to do with the dissolution of the DPR.
